In a major crackdown on habitual offenders, Ajni Police Station has detained a notorious criminal with 51 cases under preventive action.
The accused, Chandramani alias Hiralal Meshram (54), is a resident of Manewada and has a long history of criminal activities, including illegal arms possession, gambling, illicit liquor trade, and violation of externment orders.
Despite multiple preventive actions between 2021 and 2024 and a one-year externment, the accused continued illegal activities, including running gambling dens.
Following a proposal by police officials, the Commissioner approved his detention. He has been lodged in Nagpur Central Jail and is likely to be shifted to Nashik Central Prison.
