The Maharashtra government has appointed IAS officer Kumar Ashirwad as the new Collector of Nagpur district. He is expected to formally assume charge on Saturday, marking an important administrative transition in one of Vidarbha’s key districts.
Kumar Ashirwad, a senior Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, is known for his administrative experience across multiple districts and departments in Maharashtra. His appointment comes at a crucial time when Nagpur is witnessing rapid urban expansion, increasing infrastructure demands, and the need for efficient coordination between various civic and state agencies.
He is likely to replace the current Collector, Dr. Vipin Itankar, who has been holding additional responsibilities, including key roles in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation. During his tenure, Itankar oversaw several major initiatives related to urban governance, election processes, and administrative reforms.
