The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Nagpur, has apprehended two officials of Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs2.5 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Ganesh Dorle (51), a Deputy Manager (Class II), and Sumit Revatkar, a Junior Clerk (Class III), both posted in the Human Resources Department at MSEDCL’s Satgaon unit in Butibori. Officials said the duo had allegedly demanded the bribe from a complainant in exchange for clearing pending medical bills and facilitating the release of arrears.
The complainant, a senior technician from the Hingna office, had lost his right hand in an on-duty accident. His medical reimbursement and arrears were reportedly pending, during which the accused allegedly sought illegal gratification.
Acting on the complaint, the ACB carried out verification and confirmed the demand. On April 2, a trap was laid when Dorle arrived at the complainant’s residence to collect the bribe. He was caught red-handed while accepting the amount in the presence of independent witnesses. Revatkar’s role was also established during the probe, and further legal action is underway.
A case under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act is being registered at MIDC Police Station in Nagpur.
