A 28-year-old air hostess allegedly died by suicide after hanging herself at her flat in the Lakadganj area on Friday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Gayatri, also known as Gauri Rajendra Bansod, a resident of Mokhare Palace.
According to police, Gayatri had completed her air hostess training and was employed with an airline. Her father is a hotelier. She was reportedly in a relationship with a doctor, and the couple had plans to marry with their families’ consent.
On Friday, her family had travelled to Bhandara for a programme, leaving her alone at home. Around 2 pm, she spoke to her boyfriend on the phone, during which police suspect an argument took place. She allegedly threatened to take her own life before disconnecting the call.
Concerned, her boyfriend rushed to her flat but received no response. He then alerted the police and her family. Upon arrival, police broke open the door and found her hanging.
An accidental death case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
