The ongoing geopolitical tensions in Iran and the broader regional instability have significantly impacted international aviation, dealing a major blow to Nagpur’s direct connectivity with the Middle East.
The Nagpur–Doha–Nagpur direct flight service, operated by Qatar Airways, has remained suspended for over a month and is yet to resume.According to sources, the disruption is linked to airspace safety concerns in the region, prompting airlines to reroute or suspend services.
The Nagpur–Doha route, which had improved international connectivity for the city, has been particularly affected. There is now a possibility that the service may resume in June 2026, though no official confirmation has been issued by the airline.Meanwhile, the recent restart of the Nagpur–Sharjah flight service had raised hopes among passengers that other international routes, including Doha, would soon follow.
However, uncertainty continues to prevail, as airline decisions remain dependent on evolving security conditions and international aviation guidelines. In the absence of direct connectivity, passengers from Nagpur are being forced to rely on connecting flights via Mumbai or other major hubs, leading to longer travel times and increased airfares.
Nagpur–Mumbai Flights Face DelaysPassengers traveling between Nagpur and Mumbai also faced inconvenience on Sunday, as multiple flights were delayed due to technical and operational reasons. Two major flights operated by Air India arrived over an hour late, disrupting schedules and causing inconvenience at the airport.
Flight AI-2583 from Mumbai to Nagpur landed around 1 hour and 15 minutes behind schedule, arriving at approximately 10:50 pm instead of its scheduled time. Similarly, the Nagpur–Mumbai flight departed with a delay of over an hour. Additionally, several other flights departing from Nagpur airport experienced delays ranging from 10 to 20 minutes.
The delays led to crowding and longer waiting times at the airport, adding to passenger inconvenience already impacted by reduced flight options.
