To promote sports development at the district level, the Nagpur District Sports Office, under the guidance of the Commissioner of Sports and Youth Affairs, Maharashtra, will conduct selection trials through its ‘Mission Lakshavedh’ initiative.
According to District Sports Officer Pallavi Dhatrak, trials will be held for wrestling, athletics, table tennis, and shooting at various venues across the city.
Talented players with proven credentials will be shortlisted and provided professional training under expert coaches. Selected athletes will also receive support in terms of medical care, nutrition, and sports kits. Additionally, the state will offer access to Sports Science Centre facilities and financial assistance for participation in international competitions.
Players up to 21 years of age are eligible to appear for the trials, which will be conducted on April 15 at 10:00 AM. Participants for wrestling, table tennis, and athletics must report at the Divisional Sports Complex, Mankapur, while shooting aspirants should report at Taluka Krida Sankul, North Nagpur, Jaripatka. The District Sports Office will also organize free summer coaching camps in 11 different sports disciplines. Details are as follows (sport, venue, time, coach):
