In a major anti-drug operation, the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) seized cocaine worth ₹4.26 crore from a woman passenger travelling on the Hazrat Nizamuddin–KSR Bengaluru Rajdhani Express.
The operation was carried out on Sunday by the Nagpur Regional Unit under the DRI’s Mumbai Zonal Unit, dealing a significant blow to drug trafficking networks.Officials said they had received specific information about cocaine being smuggled on the Delhi–Bengaluru Rajdhani Express.
Acting on the tip-off, a team tracked a suspicious woman when the train reached Nagpur railway station. She was later intercepted at Ajni railway station.During the search, officers recovered 853 grams of cocaine from her belongings.
The accused was immediately taken into custody.Initially, only clothes and cosmetics were found in her luggage. However, suspicion arose over two shampoo bottles. On closer inspection, officers found 50 sealed yellow capsules hidden inside after removing the liquid. Each capsule contained a white powder, which tested positive for cocaine.
The seized drugs have been confiscated under the NDPS Act, 1985. The woman was arrested on April 12 and produced in court, which remanded her to judicial custody.
Officials are now searching for her accomplices, and further investigation is underway to uncover a larger drug trafficking network.
