President Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday emphasized that strict implementation of rules must go hand-in-hand with strengthening public trust in administration.
Addressing the 78th batch convocation of the National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT), she said officers must uphold integrity, transparency and sensitivity in decision-making, as these values are key to good governance and national development.
Highlighting emerging challenges such as digital economy complexities and tax evasion, the President stressed the importance of technology, data analytics and artificial intelligence, while reminding officers that ethics and integrity remain their true identity. She also noted that India’s tax system is becoming more transparent and efficient with the implementation of the new Income Tax Act, 2025.
Governor Jishnu Dev Varma called upon officers to contribute towards building a “Viksit Bharat,” while Revenue Minister and Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule urged them to prioritize larger public interest in every decision. The event was attended by senior officials, including CBDT Chairman Ravi Agrawal, where meritorious trainees were honoured.
