In an alleged electric vehicle fraud, Bajaj Nagar police have registered a case against two traders from Wardha for cheating 22 customers of ₹6.55 lakh by offering discounted electric scooters.
The accused, Ganesh Bachchumal Panjwani (46) and Anil Rajkumar Walichha (48), operated a showroom in Ramdaspeth. They allegedly lured buyers with a scheme promising scooters at lower prices if bookings were made in a student’s name.Complainant Bholeshankar Kasturi (55), along with his relatives and other customers, paid booking amounts between January 10 and March 17, 2025.
However, despite collecting ₹6.55 lakh, the accused failed to deliver any scooters and later went absconding.Based on the complaint, police have registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for cheating and criminal breach of trust. The case was filed by Sub-Inspector Pankaj Bawane, and further investigation is underway to trace the accused and uncover the full extent of the fraud.
The incident highlights rising concerns over scams in the fast-growing electric vehicle market, where attractive offers are increasingly used to deceive buyers.
