The two-day grievance redressal camps organized by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) to address complaints related to inflated and incorrect water bills witnessed an encouraging response from citizens on the first day. A total of 559 complaints were resolved across five zones.
The camps have been organized by the NMC Water Supply Department in coordination with Orange City Water (OCW), following numerous complaints from consumers regarding excessive billing.
The initiative is being conducted under the directives of Mayor Neeta Thakre, with supervision from Standing Committee Chairperson Shivani Dani Vakhare, Leader of the Ruling Party Narendra (Balya) Borkar, and Water Supply Special Committee Chairperson Divya Dhurde.
The camps are being guided by Municipal Commissioner Dr. Vipin Itankar and implemented by Superintendent Engineer Dr. Shweta Banerjee and Executive Engineer Shrikant Waikar.
During the first phase, camps were held on April 20 and 21 at Laxminagar, Hanuman Nagar, Gandhibagh, Satranjipura, and Ashi Nagar zone offices. On the first day, 29 complaints were resolved in Laxminagar, 3 in Hanuman Nagar, 77 in Gandhibagh, 155 in Satranjipura, and 295 in Ashi Nagar, totaling 559 cases addressed promptly.
Second Phase from April 22
In the next phase, grievance camps will be conducted on April 22 and 23 at Dharampeth, Dhantoli, Nehru Nagar, Lakadganj, and Mangalwari zone offices between 10:30 AM and 5:00 PM.
Citizens facing issues related to water bills have been urged to visit the nearest camp and get their complaints resolved on the spot.
