The Nagpur Police Crime Branch arrested seven cricket bookies in a late-night operation on Thursday in the Sadar area for running an illegal betting racket during an IPL match between Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians. The action was carried out based on specific intelligence inputs about ongoing cricket satta activities.
During the raid in Sadar, officials seized one laptop and six mobile phones allegedly used to operate the betting network. The accused were reportedly placing and accepting bets in real time while the match was underway, pointing to an organized illegal operation.
Police have launched further investigation to identify additional links in the network and to trace the financial transactions involved in the betting racket.
