Two heartbreaking incidents reported from Nagpur district on Thursday have raised serious concerns over safety negligence. In Umred, a 20-year-old youth, identified as Tushar Omkar, died after drowning in a swimming pool. According to reports, Tushar had gone swimming with his younger brother at a local pool. Around 9:30 am, he was found unconscious in the water.
He was immediately rushed to a hospital by those present, but doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police have registered a case against the contractor, trainer, and lifeguard for negligence.
In another tragic incident in Khapa, an 11-month-old toddler lost her life after accidentally falling into a bucket filled with water while playing at home. The incident occurred when the child’s mother was at work and her father was present in the house. The entire episode was captured on CCTV.Family members rushed the child to a hospital after noticing the incident, but she died before treatment could be administered. Police have registered a case against contractor Amol Rayporkar, lifeguard Shailendra Rayporkar, and Aryan Shahane in connection with the incidents.
Both incidents have sparked grief and concern across the district, highlighting the urgent need for stricter safety measures at public facilities and within homes to prevent such avoidable tragedies.
