The District Bar Association elections in Nagpur concluded on a high note, witnessing an intense contest and enthusiastic participation from the legal fraternity within the premises of the District Court, often regarded as a temple of justice.
In a closely fought battle for the President’s post, Advocate Prakash Jaiswal emerged victorious with 1,218 votes. His rival, Advocate Anil Deshmukh, secured 1,144 votes, while 15 votes were declared invalid. The narrow margin highlighted the competitive nature of the election.
Advocate Anil Gulhane wins Secretary post
For the crucial post of Secretary, Advocate Anil Gulhane secured victory, further shaping the new leadership of the association.
The election was held for a total of 17 posts, including President, Secretary, Treasurer, Librarian, two Vice Presidents, two Joint Secretaries, and nine Executive Committee members. The polling process saw strong participation from the legal community.
Out of 3,390 registered voters, 2,848 advocates cast their votes, recording an impressive turnout of around 84 percent, reflecting active interest in the association’s functioning.
After the results were declared on April 25, celebrations were witnessed at the District Court premises. Supporters of the winning candidates gathered in large numbers, expressing joy through cheers and congratulatory messages.
The smooth conduct of the election amid a spirited atmosphere once again highlighted the active involvement of Nagpur’s legal fraternity in shaping its representative body.
