The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Nagpur, carried out a major operation and caught a revenue assistant posted at the District Collector Office, Nagpur, red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 5 lakh.
The accused, Naresh Sadhuramji Barve (age 43), demanded the bribe from the complainant (age 40), a resident of Shivaji nagar, Mahal, Nagpur. The complainant had filed an appeal at the Additional District Collector’s office regarding a construction-related matter on a plot. To decide the case in the complainant’s favour, the accused public servant demanded Rs 5 lakh, following which the complainant approached the ACB, Nagpur, and lodged a complaint.
The complaint was filed on date 17/04/2026 and verified on date 20/04/2026, during which it was confirmed that the accused had demanded Rs 5 lakh to carry out the work.
As per the plan, the accused called the complainant to his residence (New Nandanvan layout) on 24/04/2026, between 11 pm and 12 midnight, to accept the bribe amount.
Accordingly, the ACB laid a trap on 24/04/2026 and caught the accused public servant Naresh Barve red-handed while accepting Rs 5 lakh in the presence of panch witnesses. The bribe amount of Rs 5 lakh was recovered from him.
In this case, an offence has been registered at Nandanvan Police Station, Nagpur City, under the relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act.
The successful trap operation was carried out under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Dr. Digambar Pradhan, Additional Superintendent of Police Madhuri Baviskar and Vijay Mahulkar, along with a team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Bharati Gurunule and other officials of the ACB, Nagpur.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau has appealed to the public that if any government employee demands a bribe for official work, citizens should come forward and lodge a complaint.
