In a suspected heatstroke-related death amid the intense summer heat gripping Vidarbha, a 75-year-old man died after falling ill during a State Transport (ST) bus journey on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Laxman Patil, a resident of Mandavi in Kalmeshwar taluka. According to reports, Patil was travelling from Telgaon to Katol to attend a family wedding when he reportedly began feeling unwell due to the scorching heat while onboard the bus.
After the bus reached Katol bus stand around 4.30 pm, fellow passengers noticed Patil lying unresponsive and immediately rushed him to the Rural Hospital in Katol, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Medical officials suspect heatstroke may have led to his death, though the exact cause is yet to be officially confirmed.
Family members reportedly told authorities that Patil was unwell even before leaving home. The incident has raised concerns over the severe heatwave conditions prevailing in the region, with authorities urging citizens, especially senior citizens, to take precautions while travelling during peak afternoon hours.
