To reduce inconvenience during the peak summer heat, MSEDCL has decided to shift its pre-monsoon maintenance and repair work to early morning hours. As per new directives issued on Saturday, all planned power outages for maintenance will now be carried out between 7 am and 11 am.
Earlier, such work was usually done between late morning and afternoon, often from 10 am to 2 pm or even up to 4 pm, when temperatures are at their highest. The pre-monsoon maintenance is important to strengthen the power distribution system ahead of the rainy season and to reduce the chances of outages and technical issues.
MSEDCL has also directed field offices to inform consumers in advance about scheduled outages through SMS and media, and to arrange alternative power supply wherever possible. The move is expected to provide relief to consumers while ensuring the system is ready for the monsoon.
