What was supposed to be a joyous wedding celebration turned tragic after a bride-to-be from Malegaon taluka reportedly died of heatstroke during a pre-wedding shoot.
The young woman was scheduled to marry a resident of Dongaon on May 3, and preparations for the ceremony were underway at her home. Like many young couples, the duo had arranged a pre-wedding photoshoot with a professional photographer and team at an outdoor location. However, with temperatures soaring above 43°C, repeated exposure to the intense heat after moving in and out of an air-conditioned vehicle is believed to have caused severe physical stress, leading to heatstroke.
Despite medical efforts, she passed away after battling for her life for several days. The incident has left both families devastated, especially the bride’s father, who had meticulously planned every aspect of the wedding. In a heartbreaking turn, food and supplies purchased for the wedding feast were later used during her funeral rites.
The tragedy has also raised concerns about the growing trend of elaborate pre-wedding shoots conducted in extreme weather conditions, often influenced by social media culture. Citizens and authorities have urged people to prioritise health and safety over aesthetics, particularly during severe summer heat.
