The Indian Army will open the historic Sitabuldi Fort to the general public on May 1 as part of Maharashtra Day celebrations. Visitors will be allowed entry from 9 am to 4 pm through the Army Recruiting Office (ARO) gate located opposite Nagpur Railway Station. A valid identity proof will be mandatory for entry, while the exit has been arranged through the main Fort Gate.
Known for its association with the historic Battle of Sitabuldi, the fort usually remains closed to the public due to security reasons and is opened only on special occasions. The Maharashtra Day initiative will give citizens and history enthusiasts a rare opportunity to explore the fort and learn about its military and historical importance.
