A 33-year-old man was arrested for allegedly assaulting a woman traffic constable and obstructing her from carrying out official duties in Nagpur’s Ajni area.
The incident took place around 7 pm on May 4 near Shatabdi Chowk, outside Anand Glasses shop, where Police Head Constable Malti Atmaram Pal (56) was deployed on traffic duty along with other personnel from the Traffic Branch.
According to police, the accused, identified as Injamamul Kaleem Khan, a resident of Sundar Nagar in Kharbi, turned aggressive after action was initiated against him for a traffic violation. He allegedly abused the constable, hit her on the head with a bag, physically assaulted her, and also threatened her.
Based on the complaint lodged by the victim, Ajni Police registered an offence against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and subsequently arrested him.
Further investigation in the case is in progress.
