The Nagpur district administration has doubled the supply of domestic Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders across the district to tackle shortages caused by global factors and technical issues.District Collector Kumar Ashirvad has been regularly reviewing the situation with regional officials of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL), and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) since April 8. Officials said coordinated efforts by the administration, oil companies, and gas agencies have helped improve the supply situation.
HPCL has increased its daily supply in the city from 8,450 cylinders to 19,700 cylinders. BPCL continues to supply 99 metric tonnes of LPG daily, equivalent to nearly 6,972 cylinders, while IOCL has provided additional quotas to gas agencies. Supply of 5-kg Free Trade LPG cylinders, mainly used by migrant workers, has also been doubled.Gas agencies have been instructed to follow the “First In First Out” system for cylinder distribution.
OTP-based delivery authentication has been made compulsory, and free e-KYC services are being offered at Setu centres.The Collector appealed to citizens not to panic or hoard LPG cylinders and warned that strict action would be taken against violators under the Essential Commodities Act.
