A ‘Student Complaint Box’ will soon be set up at the office of the Vice-Chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) to ensure direct grievance redressal for students, Vice-Chancellor Dr Manali Kshirsagar assured representatives of various student organisations during a meeting held at the university campus.
The meeting focused on several long-pending student issues, including alleged irregularities in the Examination Department, lapses by the COEMPT company, and multiple administrative concerns affecting students. Representatives from NSUI, Nationalist Students’ Congress (Sharad Pawar faction), Yuva Graduate Forum, and Nagpur University Students’ Organisation strongly raised questions over recurring problems faced by students.
One of the key issues discussed was the functioning of the COEMPT company in the Examination Department. Student leaders highlighted repeated mistakes in examination results, students being wrongly marked absent, errors in hall tickets, delays in result declaration, and the slow revaluation process, which they said was causing academic setbacks and mental stress among students.
The organisations also raised concerns regarding inadequate hostel facilities, poor drinking water and food arrangements, weak Wi-Fi connectivity, and issues related to library services. Questions were further raised over vacant permanent teaching posts since 2017-18 and uncertainty surrounding the continuation of contractual faculty members.
Dr Kshirsagar assured the student representatives that all concerns would be addressed seriously and that corrective measures would be initiated immediately. During the meeting, several important decisions were also announced, including a proposal to introduce college bus services for students. It was also indicated that Contractual Assistant Professors (CHB faculty) may receive an extension for the upcoming academic session based on their performance.
To ensure faster resolution of students’ issues, a special meeting with the Board of Examination has been scheduled for May 27. Among those present at the meeting were Youth Congress National Secretary Ajit Singh, Shailendra Tiwari of the NCP Youth Congress (Sharad Pawar faction), Atul Khobragade of Yuva Graduate Forum, NSUI National Secretary Vaishnavi Bhardwaj, Ashish Mandpe, Rudra Dhakde, Vidyasagar Dayashankar Sahu, Royal Gedam, Anil Bokde, Sanket Pardhi, Sanghpal Nakose, Tanmay Wankhede, and several office-bearers of student organisations.
