A serious incident was reported at the leopard safari enclosure of the Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoological Park on Sunday afternoon, where two adult male leopards were involved in a violent territorial clash. During routine monitoring inside the safari area, zoo staff observed the two leopards aggressively fighting with each other.According to officials, one of the leopards is suspected to have entered the safari zone from the adjoining forest area.
Following the confrontation, one leopard was found dead while the other sustained serious injuries. Authorities are currently working to confirm the identity and origin of the animals involved.A rescue and search operation has been launched by the zoo administration. The Director, Curator, veterinary officers, and staff of the zoological park are conducting an intensive search with the help of drones and ground teams to locate and monitor the injured leopard and assess the situation.
Officials stated that further details regarding the incident, including the exact circumstances leading to the clash, will be known after a detailed investigation and veterinary examination. The zoo management is closely monitoring the situation and has initiated all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the animals within the safari premises.
