The Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court on Monday asked Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) to file a detailed affidavit providing data on examination results and the grievances raised by students over various academic matters.
The directive came from a division bench of Justice Anil Kilor and Justice Raj Wakode during the hearing of a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by Neeraj Dharashivkar, who alleged that delays in the declaration of winter examination results were adversely affecting students.
Representing RTMNU, advocate Nahush Khubalkar informed the court that all winter examination results had been declared and that no pending results remained.
The bench, however, turned its attention to other issues highlighted in the petition, including complaints about delays in the declaration of revaluation results. The court noted that such delays could force students to appear for supplementary or backlog examinations even while awaiting revised marks.
Voicing concern over the matter, the judges observed, “It’s the question of the lives of the students.”
The court also sought information on complaints from students who claimed they had been marked absent despite appearing for their examinations. Taking serious note of these allegations, the bench directed the university to submit a comprehensive affidavit addressing all such grievances.
The matter has been adjourned to July 1 for further hearing. Advocate Bhushan Mohata represented the petitioner before the court.
