The National Statistics Office (NSO), Regional Office, Nagpur, under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Government of India, is organizing a four-day Zonal Training Programme from 16 to 19 June 2026 on the All-India Debt and Investment Survey (AIDIS), Situation Assessment Survey of Agricultural Households (SAS) and Migration Survey.
The programme aims to equip field officials with the concepts, definitions, survey methodologies and operational procedures required for conducting these important national surveys in a standardized and efficient manner. The surveys will be conducted across the country from July 2026 to June 2027 as part of the 81st Round of the National Sample Survey (NSS).
Shri Srinivas Uppala, Deputy Director General, CQCD, Nagpur, inaugurated the training programme and highlighted the critical role of the NSS in generating reliable statistics for evidence-based policymaking and national development. He emphasized that quality statistics depend on accurate fieldwork and described field officials as the “first authors” of official statistics.
Shri Niyati Joshi, Deputy Director General, HSU, Nagpur, stressed the importance of data quality and consistency in survey operations and urged participants to ensure accurate recording of information during fieldwork.
Welcoming the participants, Shri L. M. Jadeja, Director, CQCD, ZO-Nagpur, highlighted the significance of the 81st Round surveys and underscored the need for accurate data collection, noting that even minor field-level errors can affect survey estimates and policy outcomes.
Smt. Pranoti Bulkude, Joint Commissioner, CES, Amravati, emphasized the importance of the surveys for national and state-level planning and development and called for confidentiality and accuracy while collecting sensitive information related to debt, assets and investments.
Smt. Sandhya Gavai, Deputy Commissioner, CES, Amravati, highlighted the importance of the surveys in understanding the socio-economic conditions of agricultural households and encouraged participants to ensure reliable data collection to support informed policymaking and development planning.
