To address frequent power trips and strengthen the city’s electricity distribution network, two new power substations will be set up in Nagpur, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis informed the Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.
He said electricity demand has increased by nearly 4,000 MW this year due to the prolonged summer, putting additional pressure on the distribution system and leading to recurring power disruptions. Land for both substations has already been allotted and work will commence soon.
According to Fadnavis, the new substations will help distribute the load more effectively, reducing line trips and improving the reliability of power supply across the city.
Raising the issue in the Assembly, MLA Vikas Thakre alleged that citizens often face difficulties during power outages as Mahavitaran officials and employees do not answer their calls. As a result, aggrieved residents are forced to visit Mahavitaran offices to seek assistance.
Taking note of the complaint, the Chief Minister directed that action be taken against officials who fail to respond to citizens’ calls during power disruptions.
