A portion of a G+3 building collapsed near Geetanjali Talkies in Nagpur on Monday evening, resulting in the death of one person and causing damage to several parked vehicles.
According to preliminary information, the ground and first floors of the building were being used for commercial purposes, the second floor was residential, while the third floor was vacant. A section of the structure suddenly gave way, sending debris crashing onto the road and nearby vehicles, including cars and motorcycles.
The Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) rescue team, along with police and other emergency responders, rushed to the spot and immediately launched rescue and clearance operations. The debris was removed, the area was secured, and the injured person was pulled out from beneath the rubble and rushed to Mayo Hospital.
However, doctors at Mayo Hospital declared the injured man dead. The deceased has been identified as Santosh Chotelal Gour (52).
The exact cause of the collapse is yet to be ascertained. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine the reason behind the structural failure, while assessment of the damage is underway.
