Manish Lahu Giri, owner of Payal Café at Wanadongri on Hingna Road, has alleged that he was assaulted, abused, and threatened by a traffic police constable identified as Manish Bhosale.
Addressing a press conference, Giri demanded an impartial investigation and strict legal as well as departmental action against the police personnel if found guilty.According to Giri, the incident occurred on June 13 following a dispute over the installation of a signboard for KB Beer & Wine Shop outside his café. He alleged that the traffic policeman physically assaulted him during the altercation.
Giri claimed that the assault caused serious injuries to both his ears. He said medical reports indicate a reduction in his hearing ability and the onset of tinnitus. He further alleged that the entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras installed at the spot.He informed that a case has been registered at MIDC Police Station under Sections 117(2) and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Giri urged the authorities to seize the CCTV footage, conduct a forensic examination, verify the medical evidence, and carry out a fair investigation based on all available material. He also sought protection for himself and his family.Speaking to reporters, Giri said, “The law should be equal for everyone.
Whether it is an ordinary citizen or a police officer, anyone found guilty must face legal action. My only demand is justice and strict punishment for the offender.”He also expressed confidence that the matter would be investigated impartially under the leadership of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Nagpur Police Commissioner Vishwas Nangre Patil, and that he would receive justice.
