Resident doctors at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Nagpur, will wear black ribbons on July 9 as part of a statewide protest against the increasing attacks on doctors and healthcare workers.
While welcoming the arrest of the main accused in the assault at Shastrinagar Hospital in Kalyan-Dombivli, the Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) said incidents of violence against medical professionals continue unabated.
Central MARD General Secretary Dr Ashutosh Ade called for permanent and effective measures to ensure a safe, secure and respectful working environment for doctors and healthcare staff.
