Recently in an English Daily, the authorities of Law College were blamed for installing a camera in girl’s washroom of the college. The blame was put on by an anonymous person, according to the college officials.
After the news was circulated, the principal arranged a meeting with senior girl students of the college asking for their opinion on the incident. This meeting came to a conclusion that the camera installed has no connection with the area of girls washroom and rather has been put for the protection and safety of the students belongings, in the wash basin area.
Srikant Komawar, Principal of Law College, Ravi Nagar said, the college has a majority of girls and it becomes our responsibility to look after them and their items. There have been cases of theft, girls have been complaining the management about their keys and mobiles being missing and such cases were coming to us on regular intervals, added Komawar.
The principal further stated that the camera does not have a view inside the girl’s washroom but has a straight vision towards the entrance of the passage of the girl’s area and this is important as the entry of boys is totally restricted in this passage.
When Team The Live Nagpur visited the passage looking for the exact location of the camera, the found evidences claim no threat to the privacy inside girls washroom. In fact the images from the camera can be seen below, in which only 10% of the entrance of girls washroom is visible that too in which only a wash basin can be seen.
