“In the age of online shopping, youths should take lead using the technology properly and should search new markets for handloom products. On the sidelines of the Indrayani application of government the handloom societies should take part in such initiativesâ€, appealed commissioner of textile department Dr Madhvi Khode.
She was speaking in a programme organized to celebrate the National Handloom Day in Veenkar Seva Kendra in civil lines area.
According to the information received, next  year, the day will be celebrated in Bhubaneswar. Speaking further Dr Khode informed that the trainees in the centre have opportunities to do make their careers in Fashion designing.
Addressing the participants, Pardikar stressed the need of proper propagation and publicity of handloom products. Suryawanshi said that the handloom is a part of Indian tradition, weavers have played important role in the revival of the art. In this programme, the young businessmen and weavers who did remarkable work were felicitated.
The officials and employees in textile Commissionerate, Nagpur, Veenkar Seva Kendra, Deputy Mayor Deepraj Pardikar and Deputy Director of Veenkar Seva Kendra Y K Suyrawanshi were prominently present at the ocassion. Soumya Srivastava anchored the programme while Superintendent Punit Pathak proposed vote of thanks.
