Civic body seeks Standing Committee approval for enhanced remuneration to hire staff

After the city witnessed a surge in COVID-19 positive cases, the civic administration Nagpur has sought an approval from Standing Committee to provide enhanced remuneration for hiring medicos, para medics and support staff to five COVID-19 dedicated hospitals. During the lockdown period, NMC increased its health facility creating about 500 beds to provide treatment for COVID-19 positive patients. Now, Health Department has proposed hiring doctors, technicians, nurses, ward boy, data entry operators and others. As per the note put up for approval from Standing Committee, NMC would be required to bear expenditure of Rs 21,50,000 on monthly basis for eight posts that are required but not approved under staffing pattern of National Urban Health Mission (NUHM).

Civic body has proposed providing additional incentive in view of pandemic situation up to Rs 1.25 lakh. Apart from Rs 75,000 fixed honorarium an additional incentive of Rs 1.25 lakh is proposed plus Rs 50,000 from NMC so that total honorarium would be Rs 2.50 lakh for Specialist/ Intensivist/Physician/Anestheti st), for Medical Officer 37 posts are required and 38 are approved, for Ayush Medical Officer 197 posts are approved but only 5 are required at present. Similarly, Hospital Manager five posts, staff nurse 115, XRay technician-5, ANM-115, ECG Technician-5, Data Entry operators-10 and Ward Boy-30. Similarly, if doctors would work wearing PPE Kits they would get Rs 10,000 extra and Rs 7,000 extra to nurses and other contract workers Rs. 3,000. At present the monthly burden would be Rs 32, 66,000 and for a period of three months Rs 97.98 lakh should be marked to Health Department allocation.
