Ajni Police has registered FIR against six MBBS students of GMCH in a ragging issue

Ajni Police on finally registered a first information report (FIR) on the issue of the alleged ragging of a first-year MBBS student by six interns in the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

Police are learnt to have registered the FIR on the complaint of Dr. Akhil Giradkar on behalf of the GMCH authorities. The interns have been booked under section 4 of the Maharashtra Prohibition of Ragging Act and sections 323, 504, 143, 147, and 149 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The names of students against whom FIR has been registered are – Dr. Bhagat Mahajan, Dr. Sachin Bhosle, Dr. Piyush Neharkar, Dr. Shriganesh Nilwan, Dr. Shivprasad Kute, and DR Om Vaidya.

The GMCH authorities had already suspended the six interns and had also told them to leave the hostel. The incident of ragging however had taken place in April this year. But the ragged student sent a video allegedly of the incident last month to the central Anti-Ragging Committee and made a written complaint too.

Sources at GMCH told The Live Nagpur that now a new angle has emerged in the issue. Some students from the hostel as well as the affected student have written a letter to authorities saying that no ragging happened in the hostel.
