Nagpur Municipal Corporation organized a bicycle rally in the city on June 3, 2023, to promote a clean, beautiful, and healthy environment with reduced carbon emissions and improved citizen health. The rally is being held in conjunction with Global Cycling Day, starting at 6 am from the Yashwant Stadium on Saturday. As part of the event, a two-day Municipal Bicycle Expo was also organized on June 1, 2023 Thursday.
The expo was inaugurated by Deputy Mayor Suresh Bagle, along with Dr. Piyush Ambulkar, the Sports Officer of the Municipal Corporation, Dr. Amit Samarth, Nagpur’s Bicycle Mayor, Nitin Bhole, the Control Officer of the Sports Department, and Jayant Dubale from J.D. Sports Foundation. They emphasized the benefits of cycling for the environment and health and encouraged citizens to participate in the expo and adopt cycling as a daily activity.
The expo began with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, followed by citizens exploring various types of bicycles showcased by vendors such as Praveen Cycle Store, Bhagyashree Trading Company, Gear Head Motors, Cheap Cycle Store, and Nareschandra & Company. Online registered participants were also provided with T-shirts. The expo aimed to create awareness about cycling and its benefits, and it attracted the attention of people of all ages.
‘Wall of Fame’ becomes an attraction centre.
As you enter the expo, you will come across various cycling murals in the city painted by cyclists who roam around on their bicycles. Each of these becomes a centre of attraction called the ‘Wall of Fame.’ These walls feature pictures of senior cyclists as well as diverse awareness messages, and they showcase images of cyclists from all over the country who travel on their bicycles to spread awareness. This effort aims to encourage citizens to ride bicycles.
Opportunity to win bicycles
A special lucky draw will be held at the Yeshwant Stadium during the Bicycle Expo. Two lucky winners will have the chance to win Gang VX bicycles sponsored by ‘Chip Cycle Store.’ Additionally, citizens are invited by the municipal corporation to visit the expo in large numbers.
