The CT scores of children suspected of being infected with Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) have exceeded 25. Following protocol, the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) did not forward their throat swab samples for genome sequencing to the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune. The Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) has instructed that throat swab samples with CT scores above 25 should not be sent to NIV.
The multiplex PCR tests for two children, aged 7 and 13, returned positive results, raising suspicion of Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV) infection. To confirm the findings, AIIMS conducted a singleplex PCR test, but the CT scores were above 25. This indicated that the children were not infected, and their condition was stable. Both were subsequently discharged and sent home.
