Nagpur: In a commendable act of bravery and quick response, Ambazari police and a local resident saved a man who attempted suicide by jumping into Futala Lake on Thursday, February 4.
Beat Marshals PC Ujwal Patekar (Badge No. 7031) and PC Vijay Upre (Badge No. 7055) were patrolling the Futala Lake area when they received an emergency call about a person jumping into the lake. The officers rushed to the spot within minutes and sought help from a local swimmer, Rupesh Raju Atram, 32.
Atram courageously dove into the water and, with the police’s assistance, rescued the man. The individual was brought to Ambazari Police Station, where Senior Police Inspector Vinayak Golhe counseled him and arranged for his medical treatment.
In appreciation of their heroic efforts, Golhe felicitated Atram and the Beat Marshals with cash rewards and commendations. The swift action by both the police and the local resident prevented a tragedy and highlighted the importance of community cooperation in emergencies.
