With the festive season approaching, Guardian Minister and Revenue Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule has instructed Nagpur’s city and rural police departments to remain fully prepared to maintain law and order across the district.
Presiding over a high-level review meeting at the Nagpur Police Commissionerate, Bawankule emphasized the need for preventive measures and strong coordination ahead of festivals such as Nag Panchami, Narali Pournima, Raksha Bandhan, Independence Day, Janmashtami, Dahi Handi, Bail Pola, Tanha Pola, Marbat processions, and Ganeshotsav.
The meeting was attended by senior officials including Commissioner of Police Dr. Ravindra Singal, District Collector Dr. Vipin Itankar, Additional CPs Vasant Pardeshi, Shivaji Rathod, Rajendra Dabhade, and Superintendent of Police Harsh Poddar.
Bawankule directed DCPs to conduct peace committee meetings in each zone and take every step necessary to ensure public safety. He assured that the government would provide modern equipment to city police and funds for the proposed police headquarters in Kamptee.
In a separate review at the SP Office, the rural police shared plans for festival security. Special IG Sandeep Patil, SP Harsh Poddar, and DCPs Anil Mhaskar, Deepak Agrawal, Vrushti Jain, and Vijay Mahulkar were present. SP Poddar highlighted the Zero Fatality Program, use of AI in crime analysis, and improved investigation outcomes.
The Guardian Minister also instructed strict action against illegal lotteries and sand smuggling in rural areas. He called for tree plantation drives at police stations and suggested regular village visits by police officers to strengthen public engagement.
Earlier in the day, Bawankule inaugurated the ‘Operation Shakti’ and ‘Shakti Help Desk’, focused on addressing crimes against women and children and combating human trafficking.
