A woman has been booked for allegedly cheating both customers and her employer by misusing funds collected at an electricity bill payment centre in Jaripatka.
According to police, Shailesh Shantaram Meshram (40), a resident of M.I.G. Housing Board Colony, Nara Road, had received a tender from MSEDCL to operate an electricity bill collection centre. He subsequently opened the office at Sant Shiromani Kabir Multipurpose Institution near Bhim Chowk on Nara Road.
The bill collection centre was being handled by Vaishali Prabhakar Gangulkar (21), a resident of Geeta Galaxy, Jaripatka. Between April 22 and October 29, 2024, she allegedly collected electricity bill payments from customers but later cancelled the receipts in the system and pocketed the money.
Her actions resulted in a financial loss of ₹2,88,988 to both the customers and Shailesh Meshram. Based on Meshram’s complaint, a case has been registered against Vaishali Gangulkar.
