Nagpur:In a major crackdown under sex racket being operated from Lotus Service Apartment in Narendra Nagar on Wednesday, August 6. Two women forced into the sex trade were rescued during the operation, and one accused was arrested.
Acting on specific intelligence, the SSB team raided Lotus Service Apartment located at Plot No. 64, PMG Society, under the jurisdiction of Beltarodi Police Station. During the raid, the police apprehended the accused, identified as Sanket Sunilrao Tawale (30), a resident of Plot No. 183, Untkhana, Medical Chowk, Imamwada, Nagpur. He was allegedly running the racket for personal profit by luring women with promises of high earnings and providing them accommodation to engage in prostitution.
The team rescued two women from the premises and seized a total of ?28,458 in cash from the spot as part of the panchanama procedure. Following the raid, a case was registered against the accused under Section 143(2) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS) along with Sections 3, 4, and 5 of the Prevention of Immoral Traffic Act (PITA), 1956.
This operation was executed under the guidance of Police Commissioner Dr. Ravindra Kumar Singhal, Joint Commissioner of Police Navinchandra Reddy, Additional CP (Crime) Vasant Pardeshi, DCP (Crime) Rahul Makanikar, and ACP (Crime) Abhijeet Patil.
The action team was led by Police Inspector Rahul Shire and included API Shivaji Nanavare, police constables Kishor Thakre, Prakash Mathankar, Laxman Chaure, Nitin Vasane, Aarti Chauhan, Lata Gawai, and government driver Punam Shende.
Police have launched a further probe to trace the network and any other individuals linked to the operation.
