In a shocking incident, a scam of ?37 lakhs has come to light where unemployed youth were lured with the promise of government jobs. The case has been registered at the Gittikhadan Police Station in Nagpur.
The accused has been identified as Roshan Ashok Khode (age 45, resident of Nandanvan Colony, Katol Marg). Khode claimed to be the Deputy Director of a well-known state-level educational institute. Through this false identity, he advertised job openings under various government departments such as MSEB, railways, and health services.
Trusting his claims, many unemployed youth submitted their educational documents and were asked to pay large sums of money for “guaranteed” placements. The accused used to meet victims at high-profile locations like star hotels and offices, giving the impression of authenticity.
Amol Jibhkate came in contact with Khode, who assured him of a government job and took ?13.25 lakhs from him. Similarly, Bhujangrao Muley gave ?6 lakhs, Dinesh Barkade gave ?5 lakhs, and Kavita Naik also gave a significant amount. In total, Khode swindled ?37 lakhs from these individuals under the pretense of job placements, providing them with fake appointment letters in return.
When no job materialized even after several weeks, the victims realized they had been duped and approached the police. A complaint was filed, and Khode has been booked under serious charges of cheating and forgery. Investigations are underway.
