Ongoing construction work in various parts of the city has become a major inconvenience for citizens. Slow progress of the projects is forcing people to bear the brunt of poor road conditions. One such example was seen on Sunday at Sevasadan Square, CA Road.
A young man riding a two-wheeler fell into an open pit dug in the middle of the road. Passersby immediately rushed to help. With collective effort, the youth and his vehicle were pulled out of the pit. Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred due to negligence in leaving the pit open.
Nagpur City Congress Committee Vice-President and Cell President Wasim Khan informed that under the pretext of water supply work, a deep pit had been dug for pipeline connections. The concerned officials left the pit open without proper barricading. Their carelessness resulted in Sunday’s mishap. The youth lost control of his vehicle on the dug-up road and fell into the pit.
Locals complained that despite repeated grievances over the past eight months about multiple pits on CA Road, the work has not been completed. Only a narrow passage is left for traffic, leading to constant traffic jams.
Khan, along with his associates—Satish Kureshi, Waqar, Zeeshan, Mohsin, Satish Sachar, and others—helped rescue the youth and the bike from the pit. CA Road is one of the busiest roads in the city, with thousands of vehicles passing daily, making such open pits extremely dangerous for commuters.
