A shocking incident has come to light in which a coaching class teacher allegedly exploited a young woman under the pretext of marriage, cheated her of ?17 lakh, and took over her plot. The matter has been reported at the Ajni police station.
According to police, the accused has been identified as Sudhir Krushnarao Kharbade (50), a resident of Ojas Enclave, Telecom Nagar. The victim, who was preparing for competitive exams, had known Kharbade for the past 12 years. A few years ago, Kharbade befriended her and entered into a romantic relationship. He allegedly exploited her sexually on the promise of marriage and later threatened to defame her if she refused his demands for money.
The victim handed over her plot to him, worth several lakhs, and he also took ?17.60 lakh from her. However, he kept postponing the marriage. When she questioned him about it a few days ago, he refused to marry her. When she demanded her money back, he also refused to return it.
The woman then lodged a complaint with Ajni police, following which a case was registered against Kharbade. He has since been arrested.
