Ambazari Park will now come under the jurisdiction of the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) instead of the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC). Guardian Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule issued instructions in a DPDC meeting to hand over the park’s management to NMC. He also directed NMC officials to reopen the park for citizens at the earliest.
During the DPDC meeting, MLAs raised several civic issues concerning the city. The long-pending matter of land development on Amravati Road, where 10 crore rupees are stuck due to disputes between two organizations, was also discussed. Bawankule suggested both parties resolve the matter soon so that the development work can proceed. He added that expansion in this area would also accelerate growth in the State Highway zone.
He pointed out that since NMC operates its own bus service within the city, a similar model could be implemented by Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) for the metropolitan region. He suggested that NMRDA should prepare a plan for initiating such bus services.
MLA Vikas Thakre raised the issue of encroachments on the premises of the Agriculture College. Responding to this, Bawankule directed the Agriculture Minister to resolve the matter in coordination with the city’s municipal corporation and Panchayats. He emphasized removing encroachments and ensuring basic amenities like food and water for animals in nearby grazing lands.
Thakre also raised the issue of closed swimming pools. Bawankule assured that swimming pools in all important and congested areas of the city will be reopened, and where necessary, new swimming pools will also be constructed.
