Nagpur’s busiest commercial hub, Itwari–Gandhibagh, has long faced severe traffic snarls due to unregulated movement of shoppers, goods carriers, and other vehicles. To address this persistent problem, Nagpur Traffic Police has announced major restrictions.
According to the order issued by the traffic department, from August 25, 2025, to November 24, 2025, entry of autos, rickshaws, four-wheelers, and heavy vehicles will be completely prohibited in the Itwari–Gandhibagh and adjoining market areas between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. daily. During this period, only two-wheelers and pedestrians will be allowed inside the zone.
Several roads including Itwari Grain Market, Maskasath Road, Tanga Stand Road, and Gandhibagh have been declared one-way routes. Goods carriers will be permitted entry only before 10 a.m. and after 10 p.m. One-way traffic will also be enforced from Holkar Chowk to Gandhibagh, Shaheed Chowk to Itwari Cloth Market, and Ruikar Road.
The department has further marked No-Parking Zones across the market area where no vehicle will be allowed to halt. Strict action will be taken against violators.
Appealing for public cooperation, the traffic police said that these measures will help reduce congestion, create a safer environment for pedestrians and shoppers, and also benefit traders. Special officers and staff have been deployed to ensure compliance with the new rules.
