On the occasion of the Amrit Jubilee Year of Nagpur Municipal Corporation, an ‘Eco-Friendly Ganeshotsav Competition’ has been organized to celebrate Ganeshotsav in an environmentally friendly manner. The Municipal Administration has appealed to the Ganeshotsav Mandals of the city to participate spontaneously in the competition based on the concept of “Aamcha Bappa – Eco-Friendly Campaign” and to register in large numbers by August 28. Notably, attractive prizes will be given to various winning contestants under the competition.
The Municipal Administration is working for an environmentally friendly Ganeshotsav. Prizes will be given to the winners. The winners who secure the first position will be given Rs. 51 thousand, those who secure the second position Rs. 21 thousand and the Ganeshotsav Mandals who secure the third position will get Rs. 11 thousand. Also, the top ten Ganeshotsav Mandals will be given a prize of Rs. 5 thousand each as an incentive. Criteria for participating in the competition
The criteria for the pavilions participating in the competition have been set. These include proper segregation of waste (plastic, clothes, jewellery, e-waste, etc. in separate bins) , quantity of plastic waste collected in ten days (recording weight in kg) , use of eco-friendly techniques for pavilion decoration (avoiding use of plastic and thermocol) , adherence to the rules formulated by the Nagpur Municipal Corporation , implementation of innovative initiatives in the pavilion , installation of eco-friendly Ganesh idols (e.g. idols made of clay) , maintaining cleanliness in the pavilion area , putting up placards/banners to create awareness about cleanliness, etc.
Special vehicle for waste and plastic collection
Nagpur Municipal Corporation will run special vehicles for the collection of garbage and plastic during this Ganeshotsav. These vehicles will collect garbage and plastic and manage it properly. Also, a special team will be formed to inspect the Ganeshotsav Mandals in the municipality. This team will inspect each Ganeshotsav Mandal and evaluate it according to the criteria set by the municipality.
