The much-awaited Amravati Road flyover, one of Nagpur’s key infrastructure projects, is nearing completion but will open with a slight delay. The flyover stretches from Bole Petrol Pump Square, past the RTO office, up to the Mahatma Phule premises of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, and is expected to ease traffic congestion along one of the city’s busiest corridors.
According to Sanjeev Jagtap, Deputy Engineer, NHAI Division (PWD), the final painting and finishing work will be completed by September 4, after which the structure will undergo inspection. “The inauguration will take place after September 5,” he confirmed.
The project, initially scheduled for completion by July end, was delayed due to prolonged monsoon rains and pending permissions for traffic diversions. These minor setbacks have frustrated daily commuters struggling with bottlenecks, narrowed lanes, and potholes between Bole Petrol Pump and Law College Square. Nearby areas, including Ravi Nagar, Gokulpeth, and Sitabuldi, continue to face heavy congestion, especially during peak hours.
Once operational, the flyover is expected to significantly ease traffic flow, reduce waiting times, and provide long-promised relief to thousands of citizens using this route daily.
