The 38th Maharashtra Pakshimitra Sammelan (Bird Lovers’ Meet) is being organised in Amravati on November 1 and 2. The meet is being supported by the Wildlife and Environment Conservation Society (WECS) as a host. Participation from across the nation is expected for the event.
A social organisation, Vidarbha Pakshi Abhyas, is generating awareness about wildlife, birds, and environment with WECS, which is celebrating 25 years of its foundation, Kishor Rithe of the Pakshimitra Sanghatna informed the media.
WECS has planned various programmes during 2025 and 2026 and is working to fetch participation from across the nation. The event in Amravati is also termed a national meet.
A workshop on bird watching and study has been organised a day prior to the main event. On the last day the participants will visit the Melghat Forest. About 300 bird watchers are expected to participate.
