Ahead of the Navratri festivities, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) has rolled out a special citywide cleanliness campaign focused on areas surrounding Durga mandals. The drive, initiated under the directions of Municipal Commissioner and Administrator Dr. Abhijit Chaudhari, will run from September 22 to October 2.
To ensure smooth execution, Additional Commissioner Vasumana Pant has issued formal orders outlining duties for officials and sanitation teams across all city zones.
According to the plan, Solid Waste Management Department staff will work in two daily shifts — from 6 am to 2 pm and from 4 pm to midnight. Jamadars have been instructed to maintain hygiene in their respective areas, while inspectors will monitor and regulate the operations.
Zonal officers and assistant commissioners will oversee the deployment of cleaning vehicles and address on-ground challenges. Citizens’ groups and NGOs are also being encouraged to participate and support the initiative.
The campaign is aimed at keeping public spaces around Durga mandals clean and ensuring a safe, hygienic environment for devotees and visitors throughout the Navratri celebrations.
