Replicas of 12 forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj created
Organized under the “Kala Ko Jaano” series
100 students participated
The South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur, under the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, in collaboration with the Government College of Arts and Architecture, Nagpur (Government College of Fine Arts), organized the “Mera Kila” – Fort Construction Workshop and Competition on 29th and 30th September 2025 at the campus of the South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur. The event was inaugurated with a lamp-lighting ceremony by senior artist Mr. Anup Giri from Kolkata and the Director of the Centre, Ms. Astha Karlekar. The Assistant Director (Program) of the Centre, Mr. Deepak Kulkarni, and Mr. Praful Naik from the College of Fine Arts were also present on the occasion.

The “Mera Kila” workshop and competition were organized under the “Kala Ko Jaano” series and to commemorate the inclusion of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s 12 forts in the UNESCO World Heritage list. A total of 100 students from 12 schools participated in this workshop, attempting to create replicas of the 12 forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

The exhibition of these 12 forts will be displayed at the Centre campus from 7th to 17th October 2025. Entry to the exhibition is free.

The inauguration of the exhibition will take place on 7th October 2025.

The forts were built by the students with great enthusiasm and energy. All are invited to attend this event in large numbers and enjoy the exhibition, as appealed by Ms. Astha Karlekar, Director of the South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur.
