Nagpur: The popular Gorewada jungle drive safari on Katol Road is set to reopen for visitors from Sunday, concluding its three-month monsoon closure. With its return, tourists can now enjoy an extended wildlife experience by exploring both the Indian Safari and the jungle drive safari on the same day — a major attraction for wildlife and nature enthusiasts.
Spread across a 14-km stretch inside the picturesque Balasaheb Thackeray Gorewada International Zoological Park, the jungle drive offers a unique opportunity to spot nilgai, chital (spotted deer), leopards, and several bird species. The route, which passes along the tranquil Gorewada Lake, is especially popular among bird watchers during early mornings.
Pandurang Pakhale, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) and Director of the zoo, said the safari will function in two slots — from 6 am to 10.30 am and 2 pm to 5 pm — and will remain closed on Tuesdays for maintenance.
“Only private SUVs with good ground clearance will be allowed on the route,” Pakhale said, adding that Gypsies will be available for booking depending on availability. Online bookings can be made through the official website www.wildgorewada.com.
The entry fee has been set at ₹100 per person, while vehicle charges are ₹500 for five-seaters and ₹600 for seven-seaters. A guide is mandatory for each trip, with a fee of ₹300. Forest officials expressed confidence that the safari’s reopening will draw a strong tourist response in the coming weeks.
