A disturbing case of sexual assault and prolonged exploitation has come to light in Nagpur, following a party held at the popular Dabo Lounge Pub on Wardha Road. Khaparkheda Police have booked Shubham Mohan Mehandadole (31), a WCL employee from Saoner, on charges of rape, blackmail, and exploitation of a 21-year-old student from Chhattisgarh pursuing her studies in the city.
Intoxicated Student Assaulted in Car After Late-Night Party
According to the complaint, the incident took place on the night of April 27, when the student attended a party organized by her friend at Dabo Lounge Pub. Her friend, the friend’s boyfriend, and the accused were present. The gathering involved heavy drinking, during which the student became extremely intoxicated, nearly unconscious, and began vomiting.
Around 2 a.m., the group left the pub in a car. When the student partially regained consciousness, she found herself on the backseat of a parked car near Pipla Dak Bungalow, with Shubham beside her. In her semi-conscious state, she was unable to resist the assault. At the time, her friend and the friend’s boyfriend had stepped out to get food.
Objectionable Photos Used for Blackmail; Six Months of Exploitation
The next day, Shubham allegedly called the student to meet him and showed her objectionable photos taken during the night. He reportedly used the images to threaten her while assuring her that he intended to marry her.
As per the FIR, he repeatedly forced her into physical relations over the next six months. When the survivor finally questioned him about marriage, he began avoiding her and eventually refused, leading her to approach the police.
FIR Registered After Survivor Approaches Multiple Police Stations
Initially, the student went to Sonegaon Police Station, but since the assault occurred near Pipla Dak Bungalow, she was referred to Khaparkheda Police Station, where a formal case was registered. Police have booked Shubham on charges of rape, blackmail, and continued exploitation. An investigation is currently ongoing.
Past Controversies Surrounding Dabo Lounge Pub Resurface
The incident has once again put Dabo Lounge Pub under scrutiny. The establishment has been embroiled in multiple controversies in the past:
- A married woman was reportedly harassed, and her husband assaulted.
- In another case, a young woman was found on the road in a semi-nude condition, creating public disturbance.
Despite earlier police action, the pub continues to draw attention, especially given its proximity to Sonegaon Police Station. Authorities are expected to examine these recurring issues closely as part of the investigation.
